But on some days...

Sorry for my extended absence. First, I was gone for a work retreat to a reasonably nice hotel that has little-to-no understanding of this whole "Internet" thing. Then, Wood Nymph (or Mrs. Elf, as she happily pointed out) and I jumped into the process of refinancing our rental property, which necessitated some grunt work to fix a few things before the appraisal.

Most days, I am a rather large dork who sits in front of a computer trying to figure out why X doesn't equal what X is supposed to equal. But on some days - on some days, I am a MAN.

On Thursday, I rebuilt the roof to one of the work sheds from scratch. Went to Lowe's, bought the plywood, felt, and shingles. Back to the house, then cut the boards, placed them, laid the felt and nailed down the shingles. I was going to do the flashing too, until I discovered that I didn't really need to. The reason why I mention this is because I've never done it before. A thirty minute roofing lesson from a coworker and a book from Lowe's and I did the job, almost entirely by myself. Took 9 hours in fairly cold weather. And it was awesome.

This weekend we did some Christmas shopping, got the new oven in place, decided what to do about our kitchen (to design away the hideousness that it is now), and I caught the first six episodes of Roswell Season One. Good plotting, with somewhat lame adolescent conversation - like Buffy with bad talking.

One of those Mind Racing Days...

When I was in high school and early in college, I was an undeniable INTP on the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Scale. Somewhere in college, I began to drift into ENTP land, effectively making me an XNTP. As I've gotten older, I've discovered that I have a really strong tendency towards a particular trait ascribed to ENTPs.

This is part of a brief description of ENTPs:

ENTPs are visionaries and their perceptive abilities allow them to see possibilities everywhere. They get excited and enthusiastic about their ideas, and are able to spread their enthusiasm to others. However, they are less interested in developing plans of action or making decisions than they are in generating possibilities and ideas. Following through on the implementation of an idea is usually a chore to the ENTP.

This is starting to become my reality, much to my dismay. So I'm going to write about it, in hopes that quantifying my goals will help. Or plummet me into endless despair, from which I shant return.

Networks Screwing with Tivo

Total bastards.

I knew this was happening. Why else does Lost keeping losing the last minute as it cuts away to Jack and Bobby? ABC is doing it on purpose.

I wonder if those executives understand that this is the kind of behavior Hell was created for.

In other TV news, I can't decide if Lost or Veronica Mars is the best new show of the season. I know at least half of you are watching Lost, but is anyone else following Veronica Mars. Frickin' fantabulous, that show, and Tuesday's episode name-dropped the Choco Taco, a delightful contender for Sarachkah's Top Ten List.
