08/09/2004: "Raul Groom's Proposition" mood: Antagonistic

My good friend and admirable political sparring partner, Raul Groom, emailed me with a challenge last week. Raul writes a column (pretty much the only readable one) on a website full of Democrat worshipping yokels called Democratic Underground. His challenge was to have an occasional political blog debate - call-and-response style. We've had many a fine email discussion of politics and, though I disagree philosophically with him on many things, he's certainly in the upper echelon of thinking liberal philosophers. I have accepted the invitation and was given the opportunity to choose the first topic of debate.

The inaugural topic is the Minimum Wage.

I chose the topic, Raul goes first. His opening salvo can be found in the blog entry dated August 4th, 2004. Right here:

I should take a moment to note the fact that Raul Groom is a huge Cleveland Browns fan. I recognize that many of you will consider this a rhetorical low blow (I certainly do), but it is my duty to provide you with the grain of salt you will undoubtedly need when reading Groom’s take on the minimum wage.

Enjoy. My response will appear later today or early tomorrow.
